Objectives:

  • Understand the differences in various materials such as drape, memory, rigidity.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of handling skills used in the fabrication process.
  • Identify the types of upper extremity splints (static, dynamic and static progressive)

Description:

This presentation will focus on the theory, practice and technologies relating to use of thermoplastics in the treatment of upper extremity physical disabilities.  Discussion of the differing types and styles of materials, techniques and approaches to orthotic fabrication will be demonstrated and an opportunity to practice with samples of differing materials will be offered.
