Participants will be taught both mat and chair versions as well as strategies for teaching to&amp;nbsp;&lt;/font&gt;&lt;font face="Calibri" color="#222222"&gt;groups of mixed mobility levels. The President shall appoint committee chairs for all standing committees of the Board subject to Board approval. The President shall have the power to sign all written obligations of the Association upon approval of the Board of Directors, and shall exercise general powers of supervision and active management of the Association.&lt;/font&gt; &lt;font face="Calibri, sans-serif"&gt;&lt;br&gt;&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;font style="font-size: 15px;" face="Symbol"&gt;·&lt;font style="font-size: 9px;" face="Times New Roman"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/font&gt; &lt;strong&gt;&lt;font style="font-size: 15px;" face="Calibri, sans-serif"&gt;Vice President&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;font style="font-size: 15px;" face="Calibri, sans-serif"&gt;The Vice President shall assist the President as requested and assume presidential duties in the absence of the President. In the event of a vacancy in the office of the President, the Vice President shall succeed to the Presidency for the unexpired portion of the President's term. The vice president shall serve on the program committee or serve as chairperson act as liaison between all DCOTA continuing education and program activities.&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;font style="font-size: 15px;" face="Calibri, sans-serif"&gt;The Nominations Chair is a member of the DCOTA board and is responsible for &lt;font color="#222222"&gt;advertising, soliciting, and gathering data for nominations for DCOTA offices, and membership awards. They maintain records of previous awardees and coordinate presentation of awards at the annual conference and other events. They are responsible for recruiting candidates for impending vacancies on the DCOTA Board.&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

      <title>Survey on Keyboarding in Schools</title>
      <description>&lt;h3&gt;&lt;font style="font-size: 18px;"&gt;&lt;font&gt;&lt;font face="Ubuntu"&gt;My name is Jaime Schilling, and I am a Post Professional Doctoral student in the Occupational Therapy Department of Quinnipiac University. I am a co-investigator in a study exploring how school-based occupational therapists who spend at least 75% of each week working in public schools within the United States, are supporting student attainment of&amp;nbsp;keyboarding&amp;nbsp;skills for children in grades kindergarten through twelve. Through this brief survey, your answers will be helpful in&amp;nbsp;enhancing our knowledge of the practice patterns and intervention approaches school-based occupational therapists are using in order to promote the development of&amp;nbsp;keyboarding&amp;nbsp;skills in students attending public schools.&lt;/font&gt;&lt;br&gt;&lt;/font&gt;This survey should take no more than 10 minutes to complete, and your responses are completely anonymous. It would be greatly appreciated if you could pass this survey on to additional public school-based occupational therapists working with children, in grades kindergarten through twelve, you know or work with, to help us obtain additional participants.       <title>Violence in Occupational Therapy Workplace</title>

Health sector personnel are particularly at risk of violence in their workplace. Current figures represent only the tip of the iceberg…&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/em&gt;&lt;font face="arial, sans-serif"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/font&gt;&lt;font face="arial, sans-serif"&gt;(World Health Organization 2008)&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;font face="arial, sans-serif"&gt;&lt;br&gt;&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;font face="arial, sans-serif"&gt;The Department of Occupational Therapy at the University of Alberta, with an Occupational Health and Safety Innovation and Engagement grant from Alberta Labour, is building a workplace violence educational resource website.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;font face="arial, sans-serif"&gt;&lt;br&gt;&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;font face="arial, sans-serif"&gt;The website is specifically about and for occupational therapists (OTs) and OT students.&amp;nbsp; An important part of this work is gathering information about OTs’ and OT students experiences of workplace violence.&amp;nbsp; To do this we are using the World Health Organization’s survey tool –&amp;nbsp;&lt;em&gt;Workplace Violence in the Health Sector&lt;/em&gt;.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;font face="arial, sans-serif"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;font face="arial, sans-serif"&gt;&lt;strong&gt;&lt;font style="font-size: 16px;"&gt;Your opinion and experiences matter&lt;/font&gt;- please participate in the&amp;nbsp;&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;a href="http://fluidsurveys.com/surveys/cary-R/workplace-violence/"&gt;&lt;font color="#1155CC"&gt;&lt;strong&gt;OT Violence in the workplace survey&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&amp;nbsp;. &amp;nbsp;&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

We are conducting this research under the supervision of Dr. Banks and with the outcome of this survey we plan to determine if occupational therapists believe that they are valued as members of a interdisciplinary team on a medical mission trip. We received IRB clearance to continue this survey in November 2014. The anonymity of the individual will be preserved by having the individual use the link to reroute them from the original email onto the secure site, surveyMonkey. From there the site does not require any personal data that can be linked to any individual. Attached is the link to the survey to further our research. &lt;p&gt;&lt;b&gt;Occupational Therapists: (contract/casual on-call)&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;b&gt;&lt;span style="font-size:11.0pt; font-family:Calibri;"&gt;General Description:&lt;span&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/b&gt; &lt;span style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:Calibri;"&gt;Occupational Therapists needed for a research study about different techniques to help informal caregivers deal with agitation and aggression in persons with dementia.&lt;span&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/span&gt; This is a 3-year NIA-funded intervention/attention control study.&lt;b&gt;&lt;span&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/b&gt; Occupational Therapists will serve as the interventionists.&lt;span&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/span&gt; The OT’s will meet with the person with dementia and their family caregiver in the home for up to 8 sessions over the course of 3 months.&lt;span&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/span&gt; OT’s will perform a clinical assessment of (1) the person with dementia’s current abilities, (2) the home environment, and (3) the interaction between the person with dementia and their caregiver.&lt;span&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/span&gt; OT’s will be trained on the intervention.&lt;span&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/span&gt; Attend team meetings. Communicate with study Program Manager and Principal Investigator about all schedule changes and study related issues.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

      <description>&lt;p&gt;Laura Gitlin, Ph.D. at the Center for Innovative Care in Aging at Johns Hopkins School of Nursing is looking for Occupational Therapists in Montgomery and Prince Georges county to serve as the interventionists in a research study. The purpose of the study is to examine different techniques to help informal caregivers deal with agitation and aggression in persons with dementia. The OT’s will meet with the person with dementia and their family caregiver in the home for up to 8 sessions over the course of 3 months. OT’s will perform a clinical assessment of (1) the person with dementia’s current abilities, (2) the home environment, and (3) the interaction between the person with dementia and their caregiver. The OTs then work with the caregiver to develop meaningful activities for the person with dementia that meet them at their current capabilities.&lt;br&gt;

      <description>WASHINGTON, DC -- The District of Columbia city council is considering legislation to license athletic and personal trainers under the Health Licensing Board. &amp;nbsp;The District of Columbia Occupational Therapy Association is working with the American Occupational Therapy Association to review the legislation and its possible impact on occupational therapy services in Washington, DC. &amp;nbsp;

The States profiled are not necessarily the States most advanced in establishing an Exchange; instead, they illustrate the diversity of approaches and progress being made.&amp;nbsp; Some of the actions in the report include:&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;ul&gt;
  &lt;li&gt;Alabama Governor Robert Bentley (R), a physician, issued an Executive Order that created the Alabama Health Insurance Exchange Study Commission on June 2, 2011, which recommended that Alabama establish its own Exchange called the “Alabama Health Insurance Marketplace.” The legislature, which meets in February, is expected to take up legislation to establish an Exchange.&lt;br&gt;
  Colorado passed a bipartisan bill to establish the independent Colorado Health Insurance Exchange, which was signed into law on June 1, 2011. The Colorado Exchange has started public education about health reform and the Exchange at its website,&lt;a href="http://www.getcoveredco.org/" style="color: rgb(44, 69, 126); text-decoration: none; border-bottom-width: 1px; border-bottom-style: solid; border-bottom-color: rgb(224, 226, 225); margin-top: -1px; padding-top: 1px; padding-right: 0px; padding-bottom: 1px; padding-left: 0px;"&gt;www.getcoveredco.org&lt;/a&gt;. Organizations such as the Colorado branch of the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) and the Colorado Association of Commerce and Industry have been active participants in the creating the small business component of the Exchange.&lt;br&gt;
  In Nevada, unanimous, bipartisan legislation authorized the Silver State Health Insurance Exchange, which was signed into law by Governor Brian Sandoval (R) on June 16, 2011. Its board has been appointed, executive director named, and application submitted for its next round of funding for building the Exchange.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;/ul&gt;

&lt;p class="ecxMsoNormal" style="margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 20px; margin-left: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-bottom: 0px; padding-left: 0px; color: rgb(98, 101, 102); font-family: Georgia, serif; line-height: 20px; text-align: -webkit-auto; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);"&gt;The report outlines some of the steps the Administration has taken to ensure all Americans have access to an exchange beginning in 2014. These include developing the information technology and business systems necessary to facilitate Exchanges in multiple states.&lt;/p&gt;

In the nearly two years since President Obama signed the Affordable Care Act into law, States have enforced the patient protections like banning lifetime dollar limits on coverage and ensuring coverage of proven prevention services. Forty-three States and the District of Columbia are participating in the new premium rate review system where insurers must justify the rationale for any double-digit insurance premium increase.&amp;nbsp; All States have received Affordable Care Act grants to improve prevention and public health. And the Affordable Care Act has already made an incredible difference to millions of Americans:&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;ul&gt;
  &lt;li&gt;2.5 million more young adults have health insurance.&lt;br&gt;
  As of October 2011, more than 2.65 million seniors got a 50 percent discount on their prescription drugs when they hit the donut hole.&lt;br&gt;
  Insurance companies can no longer drop your coverage when you get sick or put a lifetime cap on the amount of care you can receive.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;/ul&gt;
