D.C. Office on Aging's Safe at Home Program at Home Care Partners will promote aging in place for older adults (60 years and above) and residents living with disabilities (18 and 59 years old) by offering him accessibility adaptation grants to individuals that reduce the risk of falls and reduce barriers that limit mobility.

Research Opportunity: Help us describe current practice.

Who: Licensed occupational therapists or occupational therapy assistants in the United States, who have designed at least 2 home programs for adults with upper extremity motor impairments following a stroke within the last two months.

What: You will be asked to complete a survey that will ask you questions about your current practice related to home program implementation. This survey should take no more than 20 minutes to complete.

Join in the fun for AOTAs Backpack Awareness Day on September 16, 2015. If you work in DC schools, this is a great opportunity to represent your state and national organization all while having fun and educating people about backpack safety and occupational therapy.

If you are a therapist who works in the schools, we encourage you to consider hosting a back pack event at one or more of your schools. Last year’s event at E.L. Haynes was a great success and we hope to make this year’s even bigger and better. We are administering a survey to collect data thst will be used to determine the self-perceived value that occupational therapists feel they have when contributing to a medical missionary team. We are conducting this research under the supervision of Dr. Banks and with the outcome of this survey we plan to determine if occupational therapists believe that they are valued as members of a interdisciplinary team on a medical mission trip. We received IRB clearance to continue this survey in November 2014. The anonymity of the individual will be preserved by having the individual use the link to reroute them from the original email onto the secure site, surveyMonkey. From there the site does not require any personal data that can be linked to any individual. Attached is the link to the survey to further our research. Please complete at your convenience and share with other occupational therapy professionals. Participation would be greatly appreciated by Saturday!

My name is Mindy Garfinkel and I am a post-professional occupational therapy doctoral student at Quinnipiac University.  I am conducting a study on therapist perceptions of the 3:1 service delivery model in school-based practice.  Unfortunately, research on the effectiveness of this workload (vs. caseload) service delivery model is sparse.  The purpose of this study is to add to that body of research.  I am currently recruiting therapists from the fields of occupational, speech, and physical therapy.  I am looking for practitioners who have used the 3:1 service delivery model in their school based practice, and who would be willing to participate in a brief survey, and interview about their experiences.
